What answer engine optimisation means
Answer engine optimisation is the practice of making a page useful when a person asks a direct question and expects a direct answer. It does not replace SEO. SEO helps a page earn a place in search results; AEO makes the answer on that page easy to understand, quote and verify once it is found.
Answer first, context second
Answer engines quote the sentence that resolves the question. If your page buries the answer under three paragraphs of positioning, it will not be the sentence that gets cited. Put the plain answer near the heading, then explain the conditions, trade-offs and evidence that make the answer reliable.
Write for a specific question
Each section should answer one customer question. For example, a website agency page can explain what a redesign includes, when a rebuild is necessary and what happens to existing rankings. A heading such as “How do you protect rankings during a redesign?” gives both a reader and a crawler a clear topic boundary.
Make evidence visible
A useful answer explains where its claims come from. Use real process details, named tools, clear service boundaries, examples from work you can stand behind and links to primary sources where a fact needs support. Do not publish made-up statistics or promise a placement in an AI answer.
Schema that matches the page
Structured data should describe what a human can see. Marking up FAQs that do not appear on the page is the fastest way to lose trust with both crawlers and readers. Article, Service, Organization and FAQ markup are helpful when they match the visible text, authorship and page purpose.
A practical AEO checklist
Start with the buyer question. Give the direct answer in the opening of the relevant section. Use descriptive headings, real lists and tables where comparison is useful. Name the business, service and location consistently. Add internal links to the detailed service or evidence page. Review the page when the service, process or source changes.
